    -This company cares nearly its employees and each one of their diversities.

    Cons

    Pay isn't as high as it could be for the amount of revenue they bring in. Benefits are adept but not nifty.

    - Really smart engineers and product people, with a lot of empathy. - Incredible Piece of work Life Remainder, actually flexible schedule depending on the team - The core mission of the company (producing swell, informative, important journalism) tin can be very motivating. Not everything we publish resonates this way, but the work that does feels good to be a office of. - For the near role, I've felt pretty shielded from office bureaucracy/politics in my day-to-24-hour interval (though I am aware it exists in some parts of the company)

    Cons

    - Upper Management ofttimes comes off every bit very disconnected, disorganized, and even combative at times. - They don't pay as much as many other tech companies of similar size, which makes retention difficult and hiring to replace people very deadening. The company insisted it planned to address that discrepancy--even at some point sending emails near pay raises across the board--just it never happened. Instead, they offered slightly larger RSU grants than normal to senior engineers and above but (still below the rate of peer tech companies they claimed they were comparing their compensation to)

    Growth opportunities tin be difficult to discover for senior engineers, new tech matrimony causing a lot of unknowns/future union ante, even though hours are reasonable book of piece of work tin can be tiring, complex benefit construction leaves some individuals out of certain perks/benefits (RSU related).

    Great benefits, long parental leave, remote friendly for engineers, exciting to create systems and build products that support journalists and enable engineers to do their best work, beautiful office in the heart of time square, genuinely some of the nicest and smartest people I've ever worked with, free access to all NYTimes products as an employee, on the cutting edge of need tech, and exciting to work at the cost of breaking news or important news cycles. Open up to internal job shifts and opportunities.

    Cons

    Even though work has to sometimes movement at the fast footstep of news, it can be painfully slow to get other important piece of work to be prioritized such every bit internal DEI efforts or web accessibility, compliance, etc. Despite the pandemic changing the way the world works, The New York Times is non a remote first company then many roles on the business, product, and tech side are non remote friendly.     Pros

    The people are highly dedicated and intelligent. In that location is a great deal of mutual respect in the squad and some highest level of consideration I have been afforded as an engineer. People from a huge assortment of backgrounds makes work always interesting.

    Cons

    Some networking skills are needed, especially nether remote work. It's not the kind of trumpet blowing needed at artistic agencies, you just need to accomplish out to people from time to fourth dimension.
